Silong started learning how to paint at 12 years of age when he went to work with his cousin who was working as an artist painting in a pagoda. Three years later Silong injured three of his fingers in a sugarcane squeezing machine accident and was unable to work for some time. KILT, an organization that helps orphans and people with disabilities, accepted Silong as a volunteer technician and he learned how to make paper using recycled paper. The realization that waste was a major issue led to Silong's interest in turning waste products, plastic and organic trash into innovative "trash artworks".
Silong's "trash artworks" have been exhibited in Siem Reap and Phnom Penh since 2015. In 2017 he exhibited his work at the Friendly Environmental Exhibition and was awarded a certificate of appreciation from the Minister of Environment. He has also participated in group exhibitions such as; Eco-life Cambodia (2017) and Ministry of Environment (2018). In 2018, Silong was invited to display some of his artwork in the Environmental Week Exhibition at the Siem Reap International Airport to highlight world environment day to the thousands of tourists visiting Siem Reap (2018 Media Release). His goal is to encourage people all around the world to reduce waste disposal and come up with their own ideas for recycle arts. He is also keen to share his experience and skills with the next generations to help them recognize the negative impacts trash has on the environment and to help them develop new concepts for recycling and reusing trash.
